Ok, after checking my math, time to acknowledge Stefan is right: a 
professional digital camera body like the Fuji S1 Pro actually does 
provide the raw pixels required for virtually all the lens 
combinations I use.

Mea culpa.  So, aside from the issue of a suitable adapter, we're there.

Now I want one.  Thanks for a very useful discussion.
