Interesting observation Tom.

I use compact flash cards to shoot images on my Olympus C-2500L in three size
formats 32Mg, 40Mg, and 94Mg. I transfer them to both a G3 Mac notebook and a
G4 Desktop machine using a PC card and sandisc USB reader respectively. To
date, after transferring what must be several thousand images, and disposing of
images from the disks using the trash I have yet to use the resident software
for emptying the disk, but have as yet to experience the difficulty that you
describe. I did have one disk inexplicably fail one time but rejuvinated it by
reformatting the disk.

Are you using smart media or compact flash disks? After how many images did
this malfunction occur?

On another note to add to the discussion, although I love my Olympus I think
that if I were to go out and purchase a new digital camera today I would,
depending on my budget, probably buy either the Minolta Dimâge 5 or the Minolta
Dimâge 7 that Stefan was describing.
