Re: paleonet Living Pterosaurs soon on display

Sorry all, but this site is not a hoax -- it is serious. Explore the
links on this page and you will find it is real. Creationism in the USA
is growing stronger every day, and these people are able to create an
internet presence that lends them an air of legitimacy to uneducated
people. Most of the people who hit this site have never held a
scientific journal in their hands. Evolution, like the other sciences,
is cloaked in the secrecy of scientific literature that are not widely
available, and must compete with fundamentalist churches that drive
their message home with Sunday school, home schooling and school boards
that are infiltrated by religious advocates. A few web sites like Mike
Everhart's wonderful "Oceans of Kansas" site bring science into the
reach of the layman -- but how many paleontologists consider it a part
of their job to create public access web sites? I once thought the
internet would give every individual access to knowledge -- but it also
gives every crackpot a chance to reach millions. More than ever
before, we need an electorate that understands the scientific problems
that threaten our world. I challenge every member of this board to
fight creationism by creating their own web sites, and keep these people
from sliding into ignorance -- which is no joke!
