Several people have written me to notify that they received no text, only a header, for this request and have asked me to post it again (being curious of its contents). Thus, here it is. Please copy it to any and all you think might have the answer to this question -- not knowing for certain is driving me bonkers. Thanks, George McGhee ------- Forwarded Message Follows ------- From: Self <Single-user mode> To: paleonet@ucmp1.berkeley.edu Subject: birdsong Date: Mon, 15 Sep 1997 13:28:45 The following is a neobiological request, rather than paleobiological. Yet I hope someone knows the answer! Can anyone identify for me the species of arctic bird whose song forms the basis for the first movement ("The Bog") in the beautiful musical work by Rautavaara entitled "Cantus Arcticus"? I think I know, but would like to have all doubts removed. If anyone knows of an ornithological listserver, please cross-list this request for me! Here's wishing that birdsongs preserved in the fossil record, George McGhee mcghee@rci.rutgers.edu
