sci.bio.paleontology and PALEONET

I guess I would have to vote against connecting Paleonet with Usenet, for
much the same rational given by Henry Gee. Coming from a museum I am all
for greater public outreach, that is one of our major functions here (along
with sitting on committees and research!), but I think of Paleonet as a good
place for communication WITHIN the paleontological community - as a
scientific discussion group.  Opening this up to USENET will degrade that
advantage - probably irreprably and in a year or so we will just be
recreating Paleonet somewhere else.
