How about looking at the question this way:

If you have access to Usenet, will you read sci.bio.paleontology?

If you can not access Usenet, would you read sci.bio.paleontology
via a mailing list set up for the purpose?

There are several good reasons to leave PALEONET alone.  There are
also several good reasons to have a mailing list gated to the new
paleontology newsgroup.  Does anyone have an interest in starting
a *new, separate* mailing list to be gated to sci.bio.paleontology?
