It is with great sadness that I announce to the paleontological community
that Alan Charig died on Tuesday, 15th July 1997 following a stroke he
suffered on June 12th. Alan spent almost all of his career at the Natural
History Museum (formerly the British Museum (Natural History), and
continued as an active retired resarch associate after his retirement in
1987.  An obituary
will be sent to the SVP New Bulletin in time for inclusion in the next issue.
