Posted to PaleoNet for LMiller661@aol.com ---------- In response to MacLeod's posting about entrance charges at "public" natural history museums, I take the extremist's position that such charges defeat the central purpose of such institutions, which is raising public awareness and interest in ( the same, ultimately, as support for) earth history, the history of life, biodiversity, the history of cultures, and related matters. Considering the general state of scientific literacy these days, charging fees of any kind to see educational exhibits at public museums is not only counterproductive, it's stupid.
