This is getting a bit silly, but here goes.  Yes, AMNH does get funding
from the City of New York, which, as far as I know, is not considering
any legislation on fossil collecting.  If they are, please let us all
know.
  I careful wrote that AMNH does not recieve any direct federal support
for RUNNING the museum.  Of course they recieve grant support.
  Again, if one is concerned about pending FEDERAL legislation, express
your  opinion to your FEDERAL representatives.  Although it might
surprise most people, they really do want to hear from us, and most
legislative offices probably won't know anything about this issue.  A few
well-thought out letters could have a big impact.
  And if you don't do anything now, you have no right to complian later!
