Paleontological Society Activities at North-Central GSA



The North-Central Section of the Geological Society of America will meet
at Ames, Iowa, May 2-3, 1996.  Paleontology-related activities include the
following.

The North-Central Section of the Paleontological Society is sponsoring a
symposium on May 2 on "Long-Term Effects of Mass Extinctions."  The
symposium will focus on such aspects of mass extinctions as
macroevolutionary effects of extinction, the role of extinctions in
evolution, and patterns or recovery from mass extinctions.

The North-Central Section of the Paleontological Society will also hold a
luncheon on May 2, at noon.  In addition, the Paleontological Society will
staff an exhibit booth during the meeting.
