Good point, Shaun! We are doing a disservice to the amateur community if we don't keep them updated on laws and policies affecting the field. Model programs in archaeology demonstrate repeatedly that an informed and respected local group will do more to identify and protect fossil resources for science and the public interest than anyone else possibly can.
