Greetings, The commercial product, "Quarternary-O" was a super detergent in paste form. This product was sold in the US to clean machinery, etc. It was also an EXCELLENT product to disaggregate shale for microfossils. The product was discontinued several years ago. I have had a difficult time finding any similar product or method to break down shales that is (1) inexpensive, (2) nontoxic, (3) easy to use, and (4) fast. I have been spoiled by Quarternary-O (sp.). Does anyone have an alternative product or method that matches the above criteria? There are probably a number of people on paleonet that would like to know. Thanks for your help, Don Chesnut chesnut@kgs.mm.uky.edu [not chestnut@...]
