Title:
Dear all,
maybe it helps or just adds additional confusion to the latest discussion
about the use of question marks, but I think I once learned/heard that
putting the question mark before or after a genus name may also be a
matter of your nationality or in which scientific background you grew
up. As far as I remember was/is the question mark traditionally put
before a genus in the English literature and after a genus in, e.g., the
German literature to express uncertainty about the genus. This means
that ?Agenus aspecies could mean the same as Agenus? aspecies if
you consult different authors with different backgrounds.
Cheers,
Michael
