Dear PaleoNetters,

 

In this depressing discussion about ID and other watered down creationist sects, we could look on the bright side. ID is an acknowledgement by some creationists that the fossil record does actually mean something other than how fast brachiopods could run, and that biostratigraphy works. This is a huge step in the right direction away from the ‘hands over the ears, eyes and mind tightly closed’ attitude of the rabid YEC malevolents. The next step is for them to realise that their particular brand of Invisible Pink Unicorn is superfluous to the argument. We can only hope that this will happen soon.
