Dear colleagues, You are cordially invited to join paleogeoarthropoda (PGA), a website for researchers interested in the evolution and geologic history of non-marine arthropods, at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/paleogeoarthropoda/ Paleogeoarthropoda is a members-only website that invites researchers from diverse disciplines (e.g., biology, geology, chemistry, paleontology, botany, genetics, ichnology, biomechanics) to discuss their interests and research with the vast fossil database of non-marine arthropods. The main purpose of the website is to encourage collaboration for publications and presentations. PGA features a calender of events, message board, photo-sharing, file-sharing, databases, polls, and hundreds of PGA-related weblinks. Members are encouraged to peruse, update, and participate! PGA currently has 43 members, including leading specialists with insects, arachnids, and myriapods. Recent events at PGA include: * review of the Fossils X3 conference (3rd INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF PALAEOENTOMOLOGY with 2nd INTERNATIONAL MEETING ON PALAEOARTHROPODOLOGY and 2nd WORLD CONGRESS ON AMBER AND ITS INCLUSIONS, Pretoria, South Africa 7 th to 11th February 2005). * advanced notice of Megarachne paper (released last week) by Paul Selden. * Geological Society of America (GSA) accepted our PGA-themed topical session proposal for the 2005 GSA Annual Meeting. The PGA topical session is co-sponsored and funded by the Paleontological Society. Other co-sponsors are the GSA Limnogeology Division and the GSA Geobiology and Geomicrobiology Division. The session will include four invited speakers and at least 8 volunteer speakers. See http://gsa.confex.com/gsa/2005AM/topglance.cgi * notice of the 9th Symposium on Mesozoic Terrestrial Ecosystems and Biota, to be held in Manchester (UK) in 2006. PGA also sponsors a sister website on fossil arthropods, FossilBugz, which provides and introduction and web resource for teachers, students (grades K-12, undergraduate), and the general public.
