No geologist should be without a copy of the late Arthur N. Strahler's UNDERSTANDING SCIENCE. I am not a big fan of his definition of theory (versus hypothesis) but there are other useful chapters that can easily be used in an intro-level course. Can't beat an introduction to scientific method and reason written by a fellow geologist... ------------------------------------------------------------- Alexander Glass Ph.D. Candidate, Geology Paleobiology of asteroids, ophiuroids, and crinoids University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Department of Geology 1301 West Green Street, NHB 245 Urbana, IL 61801 Phone: 217-333-4963 Fax: 217-244-4996 ------------------------------------------------------------- "The malady of indifference is what destroys many things".
