All, While dr Donaho himself is apologising for ever having started this thread (and for the way he did it), let's get a few points out of it as a summary, maybe the only points worth while remembering in the long run. 1) Not every Christian ('evangelical', fundamentalist, or whatever inadequate label is put on a certain way of believing) is a creationist. 2)Therefore, it makes no sense considering a palaeontologist who holds such beliefs as your enemy, nor does it make sense to attack every one who beliefs in Jesus about being an opponent of evolution. 3) But it is wrong to ignore creationism too, since it does exist and is a strong force, with support from people and some politicians. 4) We need to take all people seriously and respect them, but inform them in the best way we can about all those, admittedly, fundamental and important ideas (there will be those who still won't accept-we must then just be satisfied that we've tried or best, but don't waste more time on them). We must also inform them that we don't just play with dinos for fun, but that what we do is really good for something (and we must explain what for). Otherwise good science may go extinct. 5)Despite the fact that diversity is good on PaleoNet, in this thread there has been a lot of talking, while everything that mattered for the topic could be said in just a few words, without endless side-alleys. Maybe there is even still something good to be said in this thread, but let's try to stay on topic. Ken *************************************************************************** Dr. Kenneth A.
