RE: Georgia Evolution Revolution: For those in the US, you can tune into National Public Radio's "All Things Considered" Feb 3 to hear about the debate (see note below). For those in Australia or elsewhere, and are mildly curious, you can go to NPR's web site for transcripts (when available): http://www.npr.org. Don't forget, after "Hume-ing and hawing" and "Kant-ing and raving" (in a jocular sense), please pick up the pen and write Kathy Cox, Georgia State Superintendent of Schools, 2066 Twin Towers East, Atlanta, GA USA 30334; fax: 404-651-8737 (http://www.doe.k12.ga.us/doe/superintendent/index.asp). Kindly educate her about the value of evolution. Thanks a trillion (or the equivalent of the US deficit)! Sally Walker, University of Georgia, Dept. of Geology NPR RADIO SCHEDULE: Tuesday, February 3, 2004 In Georgia, the superintendent of schools backs a proposal to remove the word "evolution" from the state's science curriculum. The omission, intended to avoid disputes in conservative communities, is stirring debate -- Georgia's governor and former President Jimmy Carter have both weighed in. We look at evolution's place in education. The audio for this program will be available at approximately 7:30PM ET, 4:30PM PT.
