Applications are invited for the Mary V. and Charles D. Walcott Postdoctoral Research Fellowship, a two-year position in the Department of Paleobiology.  This appointment provides $39k for salary plus benefits, along with a modest research and travel allowance ($3k/yr).  The successful applicant will be expected to conduct independent research and be involved in the scholarly activities of the department.  Information on the Department can be found at http://www.nmnh.si.edu/paleo/index.html.
Applicants should have a proven record of research accomplishment, knowledge of paleontology and paleobiology, and experience in one or more analytical techniques.  A Ph.D. is required before the start of the position, which must be initiated before 31 September 2004. To apply, send (1) curriculum vitae; (2) copies of recent publications (maximum of three); (3) proposed research for the two-year interval (5 double-spaced pages max); and (4) three letters of reference.
