Dear Paleonetters, I have already received private email informing me that my last message on acid rain could be used as an argument to collect fossils "anywhere by anyone for any reason." I hadn't thought of that. Thanks for the note of caution! Well, I would like to say here and now that I support responsible and ethical collecting practices. Still, it is reasonable to discuss the possible effects of acid precipitation on fossils in industrialized regions. Hard evidence would be very welcome. Cheers, Andrew Andrew K.
