POSITION AVAILABLE VERTEBRATE PALEONTOLOGIST or SEDIMENTOLOGIST Hayashibara Museum of Natural Sciences (Preparatory office) has an immediate opening for a vertebrate paleontologist or a sedimentologist on continental deposits. This is a new position, funded for one year with excellent prospec ts for becoming long-term. Employment conditions will be decided in annual c ontract after negotiation. Responsibilities include participation in the Joint Paleontological Expediti on of HMNS to the Gobi desert, Mongolia, research works based on the specime ns collected by the activities, administrative works in preparatory office, and participation as a curator in the planning of exhibition on vertebrate e volutionary history and paleoenvironments in the new museum (HMNS). This position will be responsible for working with the other staff of the HM NS office and Mongolian researchers and workers in preparing and performing the joint expedition in Japan and the Gobi desert, and museum planning as a curator. The successful applicant will have demonstrated communication skill in both Japanese and English language, research abilities, and exhibition planning f or the museum. Wide background in vertebrate and general paleontology, and g eology is required for an applicant to vertebrate paleontologist; and for an applicant to sedimentologist, that in sedimentology and stratigraphy on con tinental deposits (Mesozoic preferable) and basics of paleontology . Postgra duate degree or equivalent research experience is preferred. Following documents will be prepared by applicants.
