       Hi ---

        Apologies to everyone on Paleonet for the week long
hiatus in service.  The listserver program we have
been using started to misbehave in a way that I had yet
to see.  After undisclosed numbers of hours trying to get
the software back up, I did manage to get a handle on the
problem.

        I know that the timing on this could not have
been worse (given all the NASA/Mars hoopla).  The UCMP
listservers have never been down for more than a couple of
days before this, and I hope we never come close to mathcing this
long a downtime in the future.
