Forensic palynology

This question is posted on behalf of Dave Parry. Please respond directly to to
him at: dap@robparry.demon.co.uk. Thanks. Appologies for cross posting.

Dear Sir,

I work in the Central Marker Unit of the Forensic Science Service
Laboratory, Birmingham, England. I am interested in using pollen
grains of various types in the marker preparations we supply to Law
Enforcement agencies. These preparations contain a UV fluorescent
compound together with microscopic componenets such as starch,
kieselguhr and dyed lycopodium spores. Pollen grains of various types
would enable us to vary the number of possible combinations of
components, especially if the pollen grains could be dyed/ stained
different colours. Do you have any advice to offer regarding the
feasability of this idea? Can you recommend any commercial suppliers
of different pollens? Can you suggest any suitable stains/ dyes?

Many thanks

Dave Parry
