The following is an announcement on behalf of a colleague in the Dept. of Geosciences, Dr. John Holbrook. I am exploring the possibility of developing a Summer Research Fellowship for the summer of '96 to extend my existing PRF (Petroleum Research Fund) grant. I need a colleague who would be interested in studying microfossils in the Dakota Formation of southeastern Colorado and northeastern New Mexico. The main issue is distinction of paleoenvironments, but issues of biostratigraphy (e.g. position of the presently unconstrained UK/LK boundary) could also be pursued. The only catch is that you must be a faculty member at a program that offers no graduate degrees, in order to qualify under PRF guidelines. The amount is $5,000 (most of which is to go to salary). The environments are fluvial to parolic. The project could focus on microfloral or microfauna. If interested, contact: Dr. John Holbrook, Dept. of Geosciences, Southeast Missouri State University, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701 e-mail: c127sce@semovm.semo.edu Proposal deadline is October 2, 1995, so act quickly! The proposal is short. Peter Roopnarine
