Research opportunity



The following is an announcement on behalf of a colleague in the Dept. of
Geosciences, Dr. John Holbrook.

   I am exploring the possibility of developing a Summer Research Fellowship
for the summer of '96 to extend my existing PRF (Petroleum Research Fund)
grant. I need a colleague who would be interested in studying microfossils
in the Dakota Formation of southeastern Colorado and northeastern New
Mexico. The main issue is distinction of paleoenvironments, but issues of
biostratigraphy (e.g. position of the presently unconstrained UK/LK
boundary) could also be pursued. The only catch is that you must be a
faculty member at a program that offers no graduate degrees, in order to
qualify under PRF guidelines. The amount is $5,000 (most of which is to go
to salary). The environments are fluvial to parolic. The project could focus
on microfloral or microfauna. If interested, contact:
