Beginning with our work on ODP Leg 113, Site 690, Jim Pospichal has
developed considerable evidence to demonstrate how Ir spikes above and
below the boundary can be generated by secondary processes, including
bioturbation.  He has shown that large-bodied bioturbators can move
sediment down section as much as one meterat deep-sea sites with
paleodepths over 2000 m.  By this msg I'll ask him to post a few of
