Hello out there, I just joined the list and thought I would introduce myself. I am a graduate student doing a MSc at the University of Victoria (British Columbia), working with Chris Barnes on conodont geochemistry. My background isn't in paleontology...or for that matter in geochemistry, but rather the biochemistry of marine invertebrates. I received my undergrad in Marine Biology from the University of Guelph and after a couple years of being in the "real world", I moved to the west coast (definately NOT the real world). After some discussion with my supervisor about what you could and could not do with fossilized material, chemically speaking, we embarked upon our recent project....to determine the Nd isotopic composition of early Paleozoic oceans as derived from conodont apatite. I'm also interested in the new prospects out there for molecular paleontology...but thats another story! I also take care of our labs computers and software. I do have a question that hopefully someone can address. Is there a decent program out there that will draw attractive stratigraphic sections without the hassles associated with programs like Canvas....oh, yeah...we are on Macs. Perhaps some relational type program where you input your information into some kind of worksheet, then the program draws it for you to the appropriate scale? Many Thanks Ciao Cindy ---------------------------------- Cindy Wright School of Earth and Ocean Sciences University of Victoria
