The Department of Geology and Geography invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor (or Instructor if ABD) for the 2003-04 academic year to teach courses in our first-year geology sequence:  Physical and Environmental Geology; History of the Earth; and Field and Lab Geology.  The position is well suited for a recent Geology PhD, who desires teaching experience in a liberal-arts college environment.  The specialty is open as the teaching focuses on the introductory level. The position offers a competitive salary and benefits package.  Ohio Wesleyan, with a student population of 1900, is located in Delaware, OH, in the northern part of the Columbus metropolitan area, one of the fastest growing regions in the U.S.  The University places significant value on teaching, expects excellence and innovation in the classroom, and close educational interaction between faculty and students.    Available research facilities include VP Scanning Electron Microscope, Leitz petrographic microscope, fluid-inclusion stage, automated thin sectioning equipment, fossil preparation equipment, and GIS/computer lab.  The department is housed in new and newly rennovated space, which will be almost completed by August 2003.  The Department has three geologists and three geographers.  The geologists will be at GSA in Denver and welcome the chance to discuss this position (arrange via email: khfryer@owu.edu, or stop by our sign at the Alumi/ae Group Reception).
