>Raul Esperante's Q of 31.07.02 on managing digital images I use a program called Cumulus, by Canto Software (www.canto.com). It supports multiple unlimited user defined heirarchical category fields, text fields for descriptions, user defined thumbnail sizes, automatic links to original files, an optional plugin to integrate into Photoshop, and export/import capabilities for virtually any file type. It works well with large data sets (>10K records). can be bought for Mac or PC in single user version for $100. More advanced versions can be bought for large networks - even globally distributed ones over the internet. It is a major industry product in the publishing world. I use it to manage my microfossil images, and have set it up to simultaneously manage heirachical categories of taxonomy, geography, and stratigraphy. cheers, dave ----------------------------------- David Lazarus Inst. f.
