paleonet paratypes

Title: paratypes

Hi All,

Do specimens have to be nominated, in order to be a paratype? The code (4th edition) defines a paratype as "each specimen of a type series other than the holotype". And a type series including all the specimens the author(s) have listed or used to create the species description, but does not include specimens that have been doubtfully referred to. The code does not stress that paratypes have to be nominated. Any ideas??
