Folks,
Depth of field concerns the camera lens, a function of the focal length and
the f/stop, and thus are not a limitation of digital photography. Get a
camera with a lens and macro facility that delivers the depth of field you
want. I will admit, however, digital camera backs that accept
interchangeable lenses tend to be more expensive.
