A colleague recently encountered several mammoth and mastodon teeth that had been dredged from the New York/New Jersey continental shelf at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. The specimens had notes and markings on them indicating they had been sampled for radiocarbon dating in the early 1980s, but no further information was available. Does anyone know who sampled these teeth, if the samples were actually dated, and if so where the results were published? Any other info on dredged mammoth/mastodon/walrus teeth/tusks from the area would also be helpful. Cheers, -John ____________________________ Dr. John F.
