Interpreting their interests and needs for them?  You make it sound like 
we're too stupid even to understand what we want. (I know you didn't 
mean it that way   ((did you?)) , but still....)
What's the matter with us just saying what we need and want.  Don't 
scientists understand reg'lar English anymore? (OMIGOD! It's finally 
happened!) As you may be able to tell, I don't like that idea much.
