I would think that Elmers or plaster would have worked better under
warmer, drier conditions.....not sure you would have won the battle,
considering the odds.  I have seen superglues (careful not to name
names) that work with an accelerant in wet conditions but then you have
a problem with cleaning the specimen later.

I dunno.....might have been better to have covered and left for a better
time..
