The following is a new job listing. I've placed several new links to online
paleo. resources from the PaleoNet Pages over the past week and updated the
jobs page. If you haven't accessed the Pages lately you might want to check
the new links out. I've also started identifying new links with a "NEW"
symbol to help everyone keep track of additions. If you know of a
paleontologically useful web site, upcoming meeting, job, etc. that is not

Curator of Invertebrate Palaeontology
Applications are invited for the post of Curator of Invertebrate
Palaeontology in the Department of Geology and Zoology, working at the
Royal Museum of Scotland, Chambers Street, Edinburgh.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
The curation and documentation of fossil invertebrate collections, with
subsidiary responsibility for fossil plants; conducting scholarly research
for publication; planning exhibitions; promoting accessibility to and
development of collections
You should normally have a good Honours degree in Geology; and a higher
degree in palaeontology; proven ability in research and publication; and be
computer literate. A current driving licence is essential and knowledge of
a foreign language desirable.
The starting salary for this post, which is throughout graded Curator F to
Unified Grade 7 will be between
Curator F 10,977-16,813 GBP
Curator E 13,491-19,669 GBP
Curator D 16,650-24,888 GBP
Grade 7 25,392-30,000 GBP
(GBP = Great Britian Pounds)
Placing on the above scales is subject to qualifications and experience. It
is expected that initial appointments will be made towards the lower end of
the scale with an emphasis in early years on curation. Progress within the
grades, salary bands, and beyond is subject to satisfactory performance and
proven ability to perform the duties of the higher grade. The pay and
Grading structure within NMS is currently under review.
