Conservator - Ulster Museum, Botanic Gardens, Belfast

Applications are invited from suitably qualified professionals for the post
of Conservator (Natural Sciences) Grade F/E in the Department of
Conservation, Ulster Museum Botanic gardens.

This is a newly created post reporting to the Keeper of Conservation. The
postholder will have responsibility for formulating and implementing
preventive conservation strategies for Ulster Museum's extensive natural
science collections (Botany, Geology, and Zoology). The postholder will
also be expected to develop natural sciences conservation as a specialism
with the Museum and undertake remedial conservation of specimens where and
when appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

The successful applicant will have a degree in one of the three natural
science disciplines (Botany, Geology, or Zoology). Museum
(collections-based) and/or conservation related experience is desirable.

Exceptionally, candidates without the above qualifications, but with
considerable relevant experience, may also be considered.

Salary

The post is graded on the Conservator grade F/E salary scale; currently
£10,977-£23,697, performance related. Appointment to the scale is dependent
on qualifications and/or experience.
