Introduction

I have been listening (lurking) for some time to the discussions on
rocks-and-fossils and it is time I introduced myself.

My name is Dwayne Pearson and I am fairly new to Paleontology and to the
Internet. I live in Omaha where the closest rocks are normally 500 feet
down. There is, however, some nice exposures of late Pennsylvanian age
limestone and shale cut by a river nearby (the Platte). I have a nice
little collection of brachiopods from one of the layers.

I need some basic information on brachiopod phylogeny down to genus and
species level. Since I don't have the time to search the libraries of the
world, I was hoping to find this information on the Internet. But so far,
no luck...

Does anyone know of the existence of an invertebrate paleontology mailing
list? The conversations on paleo.net and rocks-and-fossils are entertaining
and educational, but the announcement of the opening of the NMNH Brachiopod
Database was the first time I saw the word brachiopod.

If there are any other invertebrate students out there, please drop me a line.

I've taken enough of your time for now....
