I am posting this for Henry Williams Doug Boyce =========================================================================== Dave Harper (Galway, Ireland) is putting together a short paper with Peter Vincent (Lancaster, UK) on bentonites contained within the Carboniferous of western Ireland, mainly on the Aran islands and the Burren (Dinantian) There are about ten paleokarst surface, each overlain by a bentonite; Peter Vincent (Lancaster) has been looking at similar occurrences in the Pennines of northern England, and is now comparing his sections with those in the Burren. The authors would like to know of any similar occurrences in eastern North America. If anyone knows of any relevant literature for eastern Canada or can advise Dave of someone to contact, would they please either contact him directly (david.harper@ucg.ie) or send a message to me (williams@sparky2.esd.mun.ca). Many thanks, Henry Williams, Memorial University
