I've got a problem with your request to take any reference to the Dept. of
Palaeontology out of the document. PaleoNet had Dept.-level support and
encouragement from the very earliest stages of its development. To portray
PaleoNet as the rouge effort of a single individual is misleading and
severely weakens the argument that network personnel have been
unresponsive. PaleoNet has been described as a Dept. initiative by Robin in
conversations with David Cole, Neil Chalmers, and (most likely) others. I
don't see what is to be gained by backing away from this position now.
Strategically, it makes more sense to emphasize the connection. If you and
Robin having second thoughts about this maybe we'd better rethink what
we're trying to accomplish with this memo.
