Roy Plotnick (plotnick@plotnick.geol.uic.edu) urges us: > PLEASE! LET'S NOT START AN EVOLUTION/CREATION DEBATE HERE!!!! There's an old proverb (Yiddish, I believe) that states that evil exists because good people do nothing. While I understand Roy's desire not to want to involve this list in the sort of protracted and pointless arguments that usually come about when the subject of creationism is brought up, I think his concern is misplaced. There hasn't been any "debate" here because, so far as I can tell, there are no creationists here. That suggests to me that this *could* be a good forum for waking up those good people who might otherwise think we can just ignore the problem. Since I've been involved in a number of debates with creationists (mostly via the USENET group talk.origins), I was delighted to see that most responses to Robert Gastaldo's initial message have been along the lines of "what can we do to help?" Roy, please don't squelch the call to arms or its answers! -- Mickey Rowe (rowe@lepomis.psych.upenn.edu)
