Re: Accessing the PaleoNet Forum

Folks,

Not everyone can use or have access to graphical webrousers. The
text ones like Lynx will also work fine and a decent sys op at your site
should be able to get you connected.

For example our smaller college (1200) is very uptodate with
computers, but if we can't let many folks use netscape without slowing
down any internet interaction. We do have a few public netscapes and a
text webreader (lynx) on the menu for all users. Eventually we will pay
for a faster line but for now I have to use Lynx or trot to the library
next door. I only mention this because many institutions with less resources
may not be able to provide everyone immediately with graphical readers,
which will bog down the system, but for reading text like the Paleonet forum
Lynx does fine (except for some blank margin spaces that Norm had in that I
had to search and replace out after I sent it to me). Now of course, Norm is
probably going to get fancy with us and put all sorts of images in the
next forum and I will have to go next door. I did see a topic of Paleo
images, so I suspect I will take a break and go over to the library
see if Paleonet has some as good as Berkeley's museum.

iThe part of Norm's message i was responding to.
