I'm pretty sure the person you are thinking of is Paul Markwick at the
University of Chicago.  I'm not sure if he's still there, but he was
working with Fred Ziegler, so if you contact Fred he can put you in touch
with Paul.  Fred's phone number is (312) 702-8146.  It also seems to me
that Paul had a paper in Geology on his croc stuff within the last year
