The FY 1996 budget for the USGS has not been settled yet. A reduction in
force is in progress, however, but will not be completed until August 15. At
the same time, the Geologic Division, which houses most of the
paleontologists, is undergoing a wholesale reorganization. It is still too
early to know exactly what the fallout will be. I'll try to summarize the
results for you after the dust settles in the next couple of weeks.
