Re: Numerical taxonomy

I did a numerical taxonomy and a numerical biostratigraphy of Middle
Cambrian trilobites many years ago. I found the results ambiguous
but helpful: that is, the trilobite taxonomy was more-or-less
logical, and much better than the pre-existing classification, the
the cophenetic coefficients were rather low and therefore the
validity was questionable. Conversely, the biostratigraphy worked
very well and I recommend numerical methods for such. I can cite the
work:

Schwimmer, D.R. 1975, Quantitative taxonomy and
biostratigraphy of Middle Cambrian trilobites from Montana and
Wyoming. Mathematical Geology, 7(2):149-166.
