-- Select threads (date order) -- All [Z>] --

The first three threads (on related subjects) have 9 articles among
them. Note everything is sorted by subject and order of submission
(date). I can pick out any thread to read by pressing a single key
("a" for "Warmth of dionsaurs blood"), or I can toggle my newsreader
to let me select by subject (if a thread spawns several subjects) or
even by article (sorted by author, perhaps, if I only want to read
what certain people have to say). Threads are a special feature of
Usenet: each article has a unique tag; if you reply to an article,
the reply program automatically creates a reference to that article
tag, and the viewer shows you all (new) articles in the right order.

As usual for new newsgroups, the first people to start posting there
are undergraduate students in the United States. <grin> In order
for this newsgroup to become the sort of forum PALEONET readers would
like it to be, it would be helpful for some of us to post there in
the next few days, to "set the tone". See you there.
