I, too, am not a professional paleontologist. I am an amateur, quite content to collect and research only what I find myself, not simply buying Morrocan trilobites from the local mall. While I sympathize with those who want to keep the list small, tight, serious and almost private, I know you can't. If anything, be thankful that a mailing list is more intimate and private than the newsgroups. The "I found a clam fossil, what is it?" posts will go there. Anyone smart enough to find the paleo mailing list is least likely to be a potential crank. John Foust
