paleonet PaleoNet Postings

Looks like it's time for me to post another reminder regarding the nature of
PaleoNet. This is an unmoderated list and has been since its inception some
10 years ago. All members of the PaleoNet community should be proud of that.
Other paleo. lists have had to turn to a moderated format, which is much
more time consuming for the people in charge. However, keeping the list
unmoderated does require a certain degree of respect for, and restraint by
all members of the PaleoNet community concerning postings. Naturally, every
now and then something inappropriate is posted to the list. When this
happens it's usually pretty obvious. If you wish to make a comment to the
person who made the posting about its appropriateness, it's usually a much
better idea to send your comment to that person's direct e-mail address
rather than to the entire list. It's a list devoted to palaeontology, not
one devoted to explaining the rules for good behavior on such lists. If we
get off on that subject the list won't be of much real use to anyone. Let's
take those discussions offline and have them with the people involved. And
of course, if any particular string is something you're not interested in,
there's always that 'Delete' button.

This too will pass.
