Collections Curator/Assistant Director of the Biodiversity Research Center
of the Californias, San Diego Natural History Museum

This position provides museum-wide oversight of programs to care for and
manage the museum's 8.5 million specimens to ensure that Museum fulfills its
stewardship obligations for the collections. Works directly with department
heads and staff in all research & collections division departments as well
as in Exhibits Department and Loan Collection program to improve level of
care and management of specimens. Directly responsible for care, management
and use of two un-staffed collections. Responsible for working with Building
Operations to monitor and maintain acceptable building environment and
security for collections. Develops policy recommendations as well as
procedures for legal, ethical, and operational aspects of collection care,
management and use. Writes grants and works with development staff to obtain
funding to support management and care of collections (operations and
capital funds); serves as Museum's Sponsored Research Office for NSF grants.
Maintains records for and provides analysis of collection growth patterns,
space requirements. Maintains documentation of legal acquisition of
specimens (permits, deeds of gifts, copyright transfer). Send resumes with
