Friends of the Paleobiology Database: The Paleobiology Database will hold a hands-on workshop on Tuesday, October 24th during the annual Geological Society of America meeting in Philadelphia. The workshop will take place from 7:30 to 9:30 PM at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel on 1200 Market Street, two blocks east of Penn Square and two blocks south of the convention center at 12th Street. Database Coordinator John Alroy and other experienced Database contributors will be on hand to provide instruction. Topics will include: * How to log in and navigate the contributors' area * Entering references * Entering taxonomic names and opinions * Entering collections and occurrences * Other data entry tools * Query, analysis, and download tools Everyone is welcome to attend, and all professional scientists are welcome to join the Database and become contributors. We will use an LCD projector to show you around the web site, and we will enter data together onto a backup server to demonstrate the system.
