Please ignore this message if you do not live in the Chicago area Due to an unexpected shortage of faculty coming fall, the Environmental Science Program (http://gis.depaul.edu/envirsci/Administrative/default.htm) at DePaul University is seeking a non-tenure track, part-time instructor to teach one lecture-only course (ENV 202: "Resources, Populations and the Environment") for non-science majors during the coming Autumn Quarter. Qualifications: Ph.D. preferred (in any natural science field), but those with a Master's degree in any natural science field may also apply. Previous teaching experience is highly desired, but the minimum requirement would be a strong commitment and desire to teach non-science undergraduates. The course meets every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:40AM until 10:40AM and runs from early September through late November, 2006. The course description is: "A course on the relationship between the exploitation of the biological, mineral and energy resources of the earth to support an increasing population, and the environmental effects of this development." The instructor may add some "paleo/geology/evolution flavor" to his/her lectures in the context of topics such as population biology, ecology, conservation biology, geologic resources, and climate changes. I will be attending the Western Interior Fossil Vertebrates Symposium in conjunction with the Federal Fossil Conference in Albuquerque from Monday through Wednesday. So, if you have any questions, please contact the Program Director, Dr. James Montgomery at 773-325-2771 (phone) or jmontgom@depaul.edu (email). If applying, please send your curriculum vitae to Dr. Montgomery as an e-mail attachment (in MS Word or PDF) as soon as possible. The search will continue until the position is filled or someone in the program decides to overload his/her teaching schedule this fall. Additional material (e.g., recommendation letters) will be requested after the initial screening process. Sincerely, Kenshu _________________________________ Kenshu Shimada, Ph.D. Environmental Science Program and Department of Biological Sciences DePaul University 2325 N.
